I spent several days on my own with Len on the hill. Super company with his dog, Jaffa. He organised several meets and the trip myself and Leah took with him on a Scottish loch to see the Sea Eagles was special. One time that stands out for me. The day I did 2 Corbetts with Len, only us on the hill. On one summit a Ptarmigan alighted close to us and excepted some food. We were engrossed for some time. A kind compassionate man and a great conversationalist.

Len completed all the Corbetts (222 of them) and the Munroes. He completed his last Corbett, Ben Vrackie, in 2016. Here is a poem from Leah which sums up his achievement!
A TRIBUTE TO LEN by Leah Maltby

There once was a grand chap called Len
Who set about climbing a Ben
With Jaffa his dog
He crossed heath and bog
And to stop, he did not know when!
The Munros and Corbetts did call
He decided to tackle them all
He now is a legend
From Cape Wrath to Bridgend
And Jaffa, a legend, though small.
Ros provided these photos of Len, walking both in the mountains and in tamer countryside.
